THe 6.2 boss has been in the rumor mill since I owned my 04 F-150 5.43v the 5.43v dose hit peak torque at a lower RPM than the hemi, thats partly why the 5.4 are harder on flue than the hemi's.
The Variable valve timming in the 5.43v also helps with the low end torque, simply put, Ford builds a heavy pig of truck that is built for towing, the 5.4 3v has two timming chains that did not hold up in my Ford, I had cam pahser issues from the get go.
the hemi is a better old school engine in compariosn to the triton engines.

Yes the 5.4L hits max torque at lower RPM's and in a truck built strictly for towing that’s a good thing. *IF* the 6.2L ever makes it to market I agree it will be a welcome improvement for Fords HP reputation. That being said, there are already engines bigger and with more HP the 5.7L Hemi and it shows no signs of "being in trouble". If Ford needs to throw a 6.2 at a 5.7 to beat it that’s OK, it’s a compliment in my book. I guess the 6.2L will be a real disappointment to all the Ford owners who claim (conveniently)that 0 to 60 times in a truck aren't important................or will they suddenly change that tune

Power schmower - for me it's reliability. Reality is all of the trucks have enough power and speed for this ole geezer. I do need towing power, but hey, me old '93 Dakota 3.9L V6 tows my trailer fine, so a 5.7, 5.4, 5.3 (Dodge, Ford, Chevy) will pull it fine. It's breaking down I can't abide (i.e., live with, endure, tolerate).
If Dodge fixed the ball joint, differential, transmission, etc., problems I think it might be the best. Ford/Chevy seems to have even more problems than the Dodges. If Dodge made them like this Dakota I have - what a truck! The thing just keeps on going, problem free. I'm always hauling all kinds of junk in it, highway, rough roads, woods, etc., boat ramps. For me, Dodge wins...

back to the 6.2 v8 for ford it may have enough power *when* it gets build its a bigger engine then the dodge just think of the gas it will take so it will lose that contest as well to the rest if the motor can hold up lol and lets not forget there may be a bigger hemi coming out to better compete in the heavy duty and that will just pass the 6.2 ford motor away making them last again
