What are you guys running for transmission temps?? Even after my 16 mile commute to work it never seems to get much above 116 degrees. I've always thought 160-180 was the norm.
It depends on where the temperature sender for the transmission is located. But it takes a lot to warm up an automatic, especially light highway crusing with the torque converter locked. 180 is actually a bit on the high side of things. The lower the temperature the better really. The only time it should ever get near 160-170 is during heavy acceleration in constant stop/go traffic, or while towing a very heavy trailer.

Funny you should ask......this am on the way to work was the first time I checked the tranny temp. It was 103 but bear in mind OAT was 15 or so here in CO. To be honest, I haven't any idea what a normal temp range is. I will check it again in the summer hauling my 6K RV over the 12,000ft passes, I suspect it wil be a tad higher
