been playing around with someone ers theory
I read awhile back that when operating the vehicle with the ers active cuts your mds so Ive been playing around with it.
I began with the usual smoke out at a light instead of having to find a sweet spot like when the mds is active to get a good cloud of smoke going its much simpler with a ers left at 5 you hit the gas and feel it slip and mash it and you get a superchip burnout like whats on the box with your stock ecm.
Which in all honestly I dont really want to get a superchip flashpaq because it wont do any thing that this truck isnt capable of but my h rated michelien tires say a max speed of 130 so they need to go 130.
when your running above 45 your steady at 2,000 rpm and when you get the urge as we all do to slam it to the floor your engine doesnt suck in its breath like a storm then explodes like with mds activated it jumps from your 2,000 rpm running to 4,000 then runs... no it doenst cylce no it doesnt slowy go to 4,000 rpms your needle instantanieously hits 4,000 rpm right into your preformance power band and spins your tires at 65 mph and gets you moving down the road.
Im still a litt murky on the shifting process or I would have gotten deeper into it, Ive driven manuals so long that I dont know wether to lift my foot of the gas when I shift which would leave any further testing pointless.
I can tell you one thing for sure on the comparsion vids on youtube I can almost bet he set the ers to 1 and never shifted out of it for those power slides with smoke pouring out the back.
As for negatives and positives my usual screweing around with active mds leaves me with 16.5 mpg but driving with the ers on it drops it down to about 14.5 so to some that would count as the only neagative aspect of it, also at least to me IMO it seems if your going to do some preformance driving taking advantage of your ers sounds and feels like its better for the engine since it works less to put you up there which it was intended to help with towing and etc but hey............

I had brought up the fact in another post that in the LX cars MDS is deactivated when they are in autostick (ERS). Was wondering if the trucks are the same way.
For what it's worth, MDS activates and deactivates so quick it wouldn't have any significant affect on performance. We are talking faster than a person can blink an eye. The hesitation you are speaking of is just the transmission taking time to down shift when in auto mode. When you are using ERS, there is no waiting for the tranny to decide what to do, because you have told it, via the gear you have selected, where it needs to be. Therefore it just reacts to your throttle input.
No, you don't have to lift your foot off the gas while in ERS. The transmission still performs very much like an automatic, the main difference being you are manually selecting what gear you want to be in. In fact, even in ERS, you don't have to bump the gear selector to upshift. When it reaches redline the computer will still automatically upshift to the next gear.
And I'm sorry, but if you expect me to believe that you spun the tires at 65mph I'm calling BS. Maybe if you are driving on snow/ice.......

have you driven an 09?
turn off your traction control and move at a steady pace 50 to 65 and slam on the gas to the floor your tires will spin it doesnt throw smoke but they still burn out.
If you dont notcie it then your not paying attention cause my tires are brand new and it still does it.
