Default Few newbie questions

Just purchased an 9 1500 crew cab on monday. Drove the truck about 25 miles and the check engine light cam on. Found out they needed to keep the truck and change the intergrated power module. No a good first start. But i got the truck back today and lovin every second of it. But i do have a few questions for u guys if u dont mind.

This truck is the SLT crew cab, remote start and uconnect package. Also floor mounted shifter. 5.7

1. I noticed when i test drove another dodge a few days ago, that in the Computer center i could actually see the tire pressure of the tires, not just the light if you are to low. Is this an option? or is it in all trucks?

2. Also noticed when i was driving hope last night in the rain, an orange windshield light came on the bottom center of the dash, checked the fluid, all is good, look in owners manual, and it indicated it will say lowash, not show a light of windshield wipers, so was the truck telling me to put them on in the rain? I did not have them on at the time.

3. Last but not least, The outside temp was waaaaay off, it was about 30 out and it read 95 (it is in F) They just replaced the module, it was good at the dealer, but i noticed it showed 30, when it was 42. Is there a 24 hour calibration or something.

Thanks for the help.

1. I have a Laramie and i don't see anything on my dash about tire pressure

2. haven't used the wipers yet

3. yeah my temp is about 40 degree off also... its about 50 here this morning and the dash said it was 91 at 9am.

and my check engine light came on this morning on the way to work also. I have 102 miles on it and i already need a check up... im not to upset because i realize there is always glitches when an all new vehicle comes out.. so hopefully they can fix whatever it is soon.

1. I've only heard of a low pressure light but not of a dash gauge

2. Never seen the windshield light and it has been raining alot here

3. My temp works but if you look at the thread about the OAT gauge you can find more info. After it is fixed it should be working fine, no calibration period needed

I have the TRX4 package which is an SLT with offroad equipment so our dashes should produce the same info....

I had a problem with the back up assistance (just the beep not the video). I would put it in reverse and all the lights would flash making the beeping noise when there was nothing behind me. It even said to have it serviced. It only happened one more time and now it works fine. I was guessing that the computer just had to reset. I tested it plenty of times and its all good.

Other then that to answer your message Lightning04-

1- I dont have tire monitors for all 4 just the main light when they are low. Im going to see if I do have that option later tonight because I have seen that before.

2- No Icon for a windshield light when it rains, but I will investage next time we have some rain in NY by not turning them on right away.

3- Temp gauge seems to work just fine. Only one warm day it was relatively high but it went down to the correct temp as I started moving.

My truck is 09 Sport.

Good luck
Brian

I haven't seen the windshield wiper light come on with my truck, but I did have a caddy that if you have the auto headlights in the completly off position a light would come on to remind you to turn your headlights on when you have the windsheild wipers on.

Thanks for all of the input. The first truck i drove was a quad cab and not a crew, but i could have swore i saw the tire pressure at 51 p.s i. on the dash, but i could be wrong, also the damn orange light came on again, it looks like windshield wipers, i will try to turn the lights off, and put windshield wipers on, to see if maybe that is what it was, That would be great. Believe me, i totally understand the glitches on the new vehicles, Just cant stand the pt cruisers they give me for loaners. lol, better gas mileage tho. Thanks again for the help, if you find out anything, let me know. Besides those minor things, I absolutely love the truck, exceptional pickup, i even like the trans, I also own a 2004 lightning, and I love the dodge just as much.

After looking in the manual they only light that I see looks simular to a windshield is the check guages light look on page 216 in the manual. Page 232 has the explination of this light. If this is the light I would definately get this checked out.

I haven't seen one that actually reads out the tire pressure, but they may have that on newer models. It sounds like your second and third questions are related. The other post talks about it too, but both the ambient temperature sensor and the washer fluid level sensor may need to be cleaned, repositioned, and/or replaced.

Default Answer for Lightning04 on question 2 and 3!

Lightning04 your windshield washer sensor and temp probe sensor have the same grounding. The positions of the harness is the cause. Water and or windshield wash is getting in the connector/harness. There is a TSB released on the issue. Bring it in to your dealer. Just had mine in for the same thing. They have to replace both sensors and do something with the harness. Not exactly sure what though. Might take a while to get the fix done though.

This light that flashed was orange and (on page 216 of the owners manual) in box #16. In vehicle information sensor. Happened twice, and have not had a problem since, also the temp is reading good now, But thanks to you guys, i did call the dealer, and they have the parts ready for me tomorrow if needed. I looked in my door panel to see when the truck was built, it was 08/08, wish is was newer because then i would at least have the fuel saver light.
