It's not just miles, but a time interval also. 6months / 6K whichever comes first. The time interval is for us low milage us people.

i will probably hit 6k before 6 months. i am at 1300 in one month.

I average 500 to 600 miles / month. Its great being retired and in a small town where everything is within a few miles.

I understand that people want to play it safe with their new truck, but with the lifetime warranty I am not going to be worried about the first oil change. These engines are the newest in old technology; they are much different then engines built in the 70's.

If you want to change your oil, go for it. I will wait. I bought my 2003 and only changed the oil when the manual called for it, sometimes longer, and never had a problem in 50k miles.

6000 miles intervals. Why not 6001? It depends on your dirivng style. I drive in stop and go commuting every day. If I had the time, I'd probbaly change it at 3k miles.
