Default Rust Discoloration?

Just bought my '09 sport, well almost a month ago to date.

My garage sits at such a way that when i'm in someone elses vehicle backing out of the drive way i can see directly under my truck.

Tonite while with my fiancee i noticed that the back axle has already formed rust discoloration on both sides of the differential case aloang the axle shaft, and then again on both sides under the shock mounts again on the axle shaft.

Just a few days ago, call me crazy, everything was looking in fresh painted black brand new condition. Now mind you I live in NE and the weather has been snowy off and on during ownership and the roads have been salted, but is this unusual to see this topical discoloration so soon?

I have some too and I live in Texas. It is shocking that they can't put paint under the body of a vehicle in this day and age that will not rust or peel.

That's why I'll be spraying the drive shaft, pumpkin and anything else that looks like it's going to rust with at minimum a Rust-o-lium(spelling) type of paint, but preferably with a spray on undercoat.

can you still do this once the discoloration has started, or is it basically in a state of to late now?

I think with the Rust-O-lium you can, just read the destructions for confirmation before you buy.

Yes it is a paint (spray can or brush), as for the 3m stuff, I'm not sure.
