Default Two issues - checking with everyone else first

Hey guys,

Just got the truck. Not even a week old I don't think, but I've noticed my headliner jiggling a little when i drive on slightly rough roads (think bumpy residential roads). It only jiggles a little on the driver side by where the side airbags are.

Also, my cup holders that fold down rattle something ugly if there isn't anything of weight in them.

I'm probably going to take both issues to the dealer, but wanted to see if this was something other people have noticed or experienced or not.

In hindsight, I test drove a different truck than the one I bought because the original truck had chrome clad and tow package and it bumped me out of my price range...so I went with the normal 20's and no tow (yet ).

Thumbs up Issues.

I don't know about the headliner, but I think I can help you out with the cupholder. Mine did the same thing 'til I shoved down on it a little harder and it locked into place. Now no noise, no bouncing, it won't move for anything. Just push down on it a little harder and it should lock into place.
Hope this helps.
Sean

You nailed it on the cupholders. I just wasn't pushing it down. It locks in.....good to know.

Gotta go get it detailed next week...so I'll have them look at the headliner.

Does the 'jiggling' noise you hear sound like material itching right above your left ear in the drivers seat? If so, chances are that the protective cover they wrap around your side impact air bags is rubbing against the backing of the headliner. The protective cover is made from a somewhat coarse material and so is the backing of the headliner. You can test this by just pressing up on the headliner near the top of the door when you go over bumps. If the noise quiets up, chances are this is it.

The noise may also be coming from your seat belt slider. Have you tried changing its position to make sure its properly locked into one of its home positions? Or perhaps is it loose?

Anyway, those are two ideas for you. Good luck!

Secret Agent Man, it's most definitely the first thing that you described. I can hold it in place and it is quiet....but man does it get bothersome when I'm riding on my way to work with the radio low...the road I travel to work is bumpy as most well travelled roads are...and it's annoying.

Any way to fix it myself? I know it doesn't do this on the other side.

before i had my ram i had a charger.

funny you should mention the rattling, when i'd drive the charger down the interstate, right behind my sunroof there was a sound that sounded like little particles of something vibrating in the ceiling.

pressing the ceiling would make the sound stop. gotta be the same thing.

interesting.

Got the PM Secret...I'm going to give it a shot.

Well, that's very comforting...the two issues I had...looks like they're all fixed up now (or will be fixed up).

Perfect.

thanks for the replies all.

Can anyone explain how to fix the headliner/airbag noise? I have it and it's driving me insane.

Thanks
