Ford trucks have always outsold Dodge because a Ford was usually cheaper to buy. There was always a good reason, because they were more cheaply built. The problem with the new 09 Ford F150 is that it is NO where in the ballpark with the 09 Dodge and it is more expensive. My buddy owns a Ford house right across the street from my office and I really wanted to buy the new F150 and I just could not. It is such crap compared to the Dodge. Ford has a very tough row to hoe IMO. You just can't sell an inferior product for a higher price unless you are a Harley Davidson. There are some people that will only buy a Ford truck, but I buy a new truck every 6-7 years and I drive them all and choose the best and the last three have been Dodges. What is sad is that I have a GM credit card with over $5000 in free money and still did not buy the Chevy. I would have bought the GM before the Ford though.

Except for the minor detail that Dodges have sold for less than a comparable Ford for at least every year since 2005. This is the 5th consecutive year Dodges are priced lower than Fords. I still think the Dodge is a much better truck and that's why I'm on my 3rd Dodge Ram since 2005 and have had no Fords, but I do want to get the facts straight.

Sobo,
I see you are in Austin. I am in Fort Worth, so I would think pricing would be about the same. In the DFW area, Fords have been about $1500 less on same equipment. The biggest pricing concern that I have is with the 09 Dodge RCSB. The 09 Ford is cheaper in that model by a big amount. Dodge has got to get the RCSB down below $20K. There are several 09 Ford ads pricing the RCSB V8 auto for $17-$18K. The prices that I have seen on the RCSB Dodges have been more like $22-23K. I don't think that will work well for Dodge.

I'm comparing crew cabs (& I guess quad cabs) which make up the majority of sales. RC's are a small portion of overall sales. Sticker to sticker the trucks are very similar, but Dodge dealers are taking 10 - 15k off sticker whereas most Ford dealerships were only taking 8 - 9k, not to mention Dodge had 0% financing on top of that (another 4-6k in savings).

The 09 F150 is way more money right now configured the same. Like I said earlier, that is a tough row to hoe for the Ford dealers. At the same money, the Dodge is clearly the better choice, but at less money, it is a no brainer. LOL, I never thought the Ford guys had much for brains any way.
