This is my kind of thread

So, im thinking a Pro-Comp AT or General Grabber AT2's. Both great tires, but there is a lot to account for. Added speedo calibration going from 32.xxx to 35 is a 3-6 MPH difference believe. Also, need to consider the suspension and compression, and possible rubbing on front end suspension flex, and then turining radius. Okay now whos going to go first...

NO a side note, what about the trx setups ? I read in my 4wheeler mag, this truck has a very very bad approach angle, does the TRX4 increase this? The front of this truck looks pretty damn low.... Does this setup get us more height as noted, seems odd, as i have never put a non trx and trx side to side

Hey guys, interesting thread you've got here. I ordered new 20x9 wheels for my truck last week to replace the plastic ones it comes with. The wheels were shipped today, and the local tire store should receive them tuesday. When they arrive I am going to try and fit some larger tires on my Laramie 1500 4x4. I do not want to lift the truck because I tow with it a fair amount, and the factory ride quality is perfect in my opinion. Plus, I have a Jeep for more difficult off road terrain. Still, I want to get the largest tire that will fit. I'm going to go with Toyo Open Country MT tires, and I have the tire store sitting on three different sizes that we are going to try on the truck.

33x12.50R-20
275/65/R-20 (11 x 34.5)
35x12.50R-20

Offset on the new wheels may make a difference in tire fitment relative to the stock wheels. I told the tire store to get the wheels with the closest offset to stock. I had a choice between a -12 offset and a +18 offset, and went with the +18 offset.

I'm pretty sure the 35s are going to rub, and I'm certain the 33s will fit. I may end up going with the 34.5s if they will fit. I'll post back what I end up going with, and put up some pictures.

[edit] Just had a crazy thought. My Jeep has been converted to a 5 x 5 1/2 bolt pattern, so the wheels from the Jeep will fit the Ram. I suppose I could put the 37x13.50R-17s from the Jeep on the Ram just to see how it would look, and snap a picture. Betcha I couldn't turn the tires at all with 37s on the truck though, ... probably couldn't even get it out of the garage.

Depends what kind of money you want to spend. ALOT of good tires out there just price range is ridiculous. Pro-comp AT's are decent and i've never used the general.. A programmer will fix that speedo calibration for you but they're not out yet. I'm guessing you have a non trx 4x4.... You could fit a 35" but no way you'll be driving it around much. Turning radius would drop probably a good 4 inches due to rubbing and any flex over half a foot would send the tire into your wheel well

This trucks approach angle is rough because of how low the bumper is for aerodynamic reasons. As a TRX is taller in front you would have a better approach angle but i'm talking 1-2in difference, nothing to rub in the face of your non trx buddy...

Honestly with no lift i would go with the 33's just in case you do any offroading, if not then go for the 34.5's! lol go big or go home!

37x13.50R-17s RIDICULOUS! no way that's fitting on your truck, maybe just for a pic and even then it would be stupid tight...sounds awesome!

Yeah, the 37s would just be for a picture, ... probably wouldn't even roll it out of the garage to take the picture either. I'm pretty sure it would look kind of dumb with that big of a tire and no lift. It would be interesting to at least see what it would look like though. The thing is, I've been looking at the tires on the Jeep for the last few months and thinking to myself "I need to rotate those tires". They're starting to get feathered a little on the front tires. And if I'm going to put the Jeep up on jack stands and take all the tires off to rotate them it wouldn't take more than a few more minutes (using an air impact) to put them on the truck for a picture. We'll see, depends on how ambitious I am.

Does anyone know of an online parts schematic for our Dodge 1500 trucks that shows this front suspension spacer on the TRX model trucks? I would like to see where it installs and how much it cost. Maybe I could install one in my low rider Laramie.

It goes on the top of the coil spring up front. Honestly, I think the 100$ Ebay ones will work. It looks the same.

If anybody wants, I can take some pics on level ground with a tape measure in there to show how much room the TRX-4 has. I can even take pics with the wheels turned lock to lock.
