Navyr6 the shop only used a small piece roughly 14" to 16" long to connect the Magnaflow to the stock stainless system and then they painted it with a silver anti-corrosion product they use. You could opt for a stainless piece for more dough if you live in snowy areas that use a lot of salt. Down here we only get snow once a 100 years and the only salt you will get on your truck will be from the South Padre Island beach.
navyr6,
Just installed the Mufflex 24" on my 09 Sport two days ago. Didn't want too loud either. This one is just right for me, not too loud on the highway, but you will know its there. It's more expensive but the quality is worth it.
Sidelock, any way you could get an idle and take off video of your 24"? That's what I'm thinking of going with, although I'm hoping I'll get to hear both 24" and 18" on my truck before I finally decide.
Just got back from a 300+ mile road trip and the Magnaflow sound like it is getting deeper. I think they have pretty much burned/broken in and they don't sound quite as loud as yesterday. They sure do tempt you to hit the gas pedal and the sound reminds me of an ls1 vette. It was pretty windy today, so I could not tell if my MPG improved with the magnaflow. I averaged about 16.3 MPG doing 80 this trip.
rgvram99, sounds like you're getting better than i currently do with mine, i drove to jacksonville yesterday with heavy wind the whole way and averaged about 14.5 mpg. any soundbites/videos of how your truck sounds yet?
I'm really debating between SpinTech and MagnaFlow. My friend had a V6 mustang with spintech mufflers and it sounded just like a V8 no lie. It was deep and throaty.
Navyr6, i am still kind of new to this forum posting stuff. My home video camera is an old MM Sony, but I do have a digital camera that might be able to record short video. I'll check it out.
i thinkin about takin out the y pipe and muffler and having true dual cat back with maybe an X pipe and glass packs. Im waiting for headers to come out but im still undecided about if i want to mess with them or not. Im also undecided about possibly putting high flow cats im worried it will set off the check engine light. shes probably gonna be pretty ignorant loud but she sure will sound good lol.
thse new hemis are NASTY LOUD straight piped. i took my muffler and tailpipes off to test it out. startup is very deep & rumbly. WOT in 1st & 2nd was insane. rest of the gears were pretty decent. not overly too much interior resonance for dumping under back seat. then swapped in my dynomax bullets (2 12" "race")--very deep and nice tone. much more mellow compared to straight. during my 2 test drives (about 6 miles total), i used 30 miles worth of gas, according to the EVIC.
