limited slip
I've been looking at the new rams (4x4s) at the deelers and none of them have the 3.92 or the limited slip accept the off road model. i can live with the 3.55. But how will bad will that be off road with out the limited slip?
I'd rather not get the off road package but i don't want it to be lame off road.

I could not find one either with 3.92 gears. All of them were 3.55 gears. Maybe for the mileage. But the closest one I found and I bought it was 600 miles away, with all the other options I wanted too.
There are a couple dealers in Des Moines that should have a few. Did you try there?
The only trucks that I saw with the 3.55 were sport packages because that is the standard diff on them. Most of the others were ordered with 3.21 or 3.92. I don't know if Dodge was holding the 3.55 for Sport trucks or what. In Texas, our dealers had tons of 3.92 axles.
Yeah, we have LOTS of 3.92 trucks here in TX. Then again we have LOTS of trucks to choose from in the first place. And 3.55 to 3.92 isn't a very big difference from a gearing perspective but the LSD can make a significant difference.

I wanted the 3.92LS, but I got a great deal on a demo sport that had the 3.55 open. With the traction control, it is not a problem, but turn it off and you quickly know that you have an open diff. Unless you just can't find one, the 3.92 is a no brainer.
i REALLY wanted a L/S in mine, but the only ones we had were in the TRX. no sports w/ 3.92 either. considered a TRX for awhile, but i we didnt have any w/ leather, which means no heated anything (kinda cold in alaska). so 3.55 w/ open diff for me
. im curious how a L/S would do w/ traction control. you could get L/S w/ ESP on the late 3rd gen, but traction wasnt available then. donno, guess ill have to do some research on that.
