My wife and I went to Hawaii for our honeymoon. Many of the cars there have major rust issues due to all the salt in the air. My rental Wrangler was less than a year old and had more rust than my 5 year old wrangler back up in MI at the time. I didn't expect that.

Leave it on there?? I never bothered cleaning it off. You could always powder coat and re-balance them...

There are shops around that do it. I got one done one time by some old guy with a lathe. It was perfect.

Just using a "Rust-O-Lium" type of paint shouldn't make a real difference on the driveshaft would it? As long as you spray the whole thing in say 2 light coats??

I can't see the weight of some spray paint really throwing it off that much. Worst case you sand it off? I haven't tried it though.... Don't really have the need out here. I also lived by the beach for 3 years and went offroading on the dunes every other weekend and never had a problem with rust on my Ranger. Just made sure to rinse it off underneath after each trip.
