I wish my issue was as simple as a drain tube. Mine is an issue with the seal. On occassion it seals properly and there is no wind noise coming from around it. However, it is usually not that way. When it has not sealed the wind noise is loud and there is air movement around the header.

With the heating and AC system on recirculate it is not quite as noisy, but when you attempt to take it off recirculate the sytem begins to whistle through the sunroof and the faster the speed the louder the whistle.

No amount of attempting to open and close the panel stops the noise.

Again, when the roof seals properly it is as quiet as a mouse inside even at Interstate speeds, but when it does not seat properly, it is as if you have left a window down. AND, it has nothing to do with opening or closing the sun roof. One evening you can park the truck and during the day it had been just as quiet as possible and the next morning the noise is back without ever touching the sunroof controls. And the reverse is also true; it can be parked one evening and be noisy and the next morning it is quiet.

It is worth mentioning, whether it has any bearing or not, that on one occassion, as I sat down in the truck, before turning the ignition, there was a whiring gear noise and a pronounced shutter in the body of the truck. So much so that I got out and walked around the truck to see if something had struck it. Nothing, until I got out on the road and the noise and whistle was back.

There is a visible gap around the gasket!!!

 

It has rained here for nearly a week. The interior of the new 2009 is getting soaked. I finally duck taped the sunroof and at least the roar and the leaks have stopped from that but now the Uconnect has ceased to function and when I leave the truck with the windows up I often return to find them down. The ESP, BAS and slippery road icon are still coming on for no apparent reason and often will lock the transmission in park.

Really need some assistance!

 

Dude, take it back to the dealer or find another dealer and tell them to fix the issue. They are going to have alot more to pay for if the sun roof is not fixed. The only assistance you can get is to demand them to fix it

I have a 2005 Grand Caravan SXT with a leaky roof, it does not look like the roof closes all the way. I have heard there is a way to adjust it, is it a job that can be done easliy on my own? Does I will check the tubes as well, does anyone have a pic of where the tubes are in the caravan?

Ok I got something similar happening, noticed it today during a texas down-pour. My passenger oh-crap handle where the top screw holds it into place was leaking water, not dripping but lightly flowing down the handle and dripping onto the floor. I dont have a sunroof and I only have 600 miles since I just bought the truck a couple weeks ago and figured dealer is closed till Tuesday.

 

I'm having the same problem - water coming in through the passenger "oh $*%!" handle. I'm going to try blowing compressed air through it tonight, but I do have an appt. with the dealer tomorrow. Cleaning it out is one thing, a crimped tube is another. I'm really bothered by how much came in the cab - soaked my floor mats and headliner. I'm hoping this doesn't cause any sort of molding problem. Anyone had a mold problem after this kinda thing?

 

When I had the leaking roof problem, I was told it was a crimped hose from the factory. Since it was fixed by the mechanic at the dealership, I have had no problems with any leaking nor any mold problems. I know how you feel seeing those constant little drips of water coming out of the handles and into the floor board. It is not a good feeling. I am hoping the mechanic was right when he said I won't have this problem in the future. I will wait and see how it works out when we get the massive pollen again in North Carolina. The other member (BubbaRadioNetwork) on here mentioned the RRT for the sunroof, I am sure that is part of the problem in addition to the pollen and dirt that can get in the drain tube. I have not found the drain tube in the sunroof pan, but then again I am not that limber any more to be able to contort the body to be able to see it and get the tubes blown out. I will leave it to the mechanic to do. Let us know what the dealership does to fix your problem.

 

Take extra care with compressed or high pressure air when blowing out the lines. Too much pressure can blow the drain tube off the spigot, then you have to go fishing around in there to reattach it.

This happened to me with last car (before I started buying trucks) after the dealership suggested this method for clearing the debris. They also suggested bigger drain tubes, but since that was optional and not the "recommended" fix it was at a cost to myself. Hopefully things work out for you. I had my car into the dealership and leak specialists 15 times and the issue never did get resolved, even though it was leaking down the A-Pillar and dripping into the fuse box.

 

I guess from what everyone is saying is that the pollen and dirt will be an ongoing problem each year with a sunroof. I will plan on blowing out the drain tubes, but not with too much pressure as suggested. Can you see the opening for the drain tubes when looking into the drain pain (spelling intended) ? If so, where can they be located on the drain pan?

 

Don't put too much stock in the drain tubes. That is what everyone keeps saying but it is not necessarily so. On the surface, my issue appears to be the same and everyone tells me so, but it is NOT!!! I have a 2009 RAM1500 Laramie and it is the gasket around the sunroof. There is a quirk in the software running the motors. You can get out of the truck and the sunroof will be sealed. Come back and the roof has released allowing air and water to flow around the seal. I don't care how big the mote is or the drain tubes when the rain comes down they will NOT hold that amount of water dumped on top of that surface area.

Additionally, the front side windows will let them self down while the vehicle is off and parked. The dealerships do not know what to do with it!!!

The ESP and BAR also will indication issues and if the vehicle is put in park with them on, you cannot take it out of park without turning the vehicle off and then restarting it. All three issues are software issues.
