The question of failure bothered me too.
I dug a little deeper when I ordered mine.
Mopar accessories site says you need the stock key locking tailgate for theirs to work.
I got both for my peace of mind and the option..mine did not come with the locking gate. Has it now, dealer can get it.
and just for the record from autoanything

Atleast you got the truth. They're still giving me the run-around. Fvck autoanywhatever. I'd have paid the extra 10 bucks elsewhere to get it this spring.

I did not know Mopar had a part that locked the tailgate with the keyless entry?

Mine came today. Very easy install. Seems to be some confusion but my truck does NOT have the factory tailgate lock. All I needed was the LK170 to make this work. No additional parts. just fyi.
When the solenoid is powered it simply slides a metal bar under the tailgate handle assembly, preventing it from disengaging the tailgate.

Did you have it shipped to Windsor and how much did UPS nail you at the door or do you do like me and have it held for pickup and scoot across and pick it up. I was wondering if it works like a deadbolt on a plastic handle could someone not just really lift hard and break that spot? Or would that render the tailgate inop?
I am in Windsor also, I havent' seen your truck around but I don't get out that much, my wife is always out with the truck she won't leave it for me ever besides I have to get the hand controls installed.
