Yeah I got the same deal for Military the 3 years free oil change, and the $500.00 off, I feel I got a great deal as it was so the added 500 was nice.

That's a good idea if you trust them. I know I wouldn't trust them to use the synthetic, though. If you walked in with a $100 bucks worth of Redline, I bet they'd keep it for themselves. Maybe Mobil 1 would be ok.

I will bet I am one of the older ones (age wise) on this forum. My experience in owning and working on vehicles through the years is there are "dopes" that work at dealerships. There are also "dopes" with private garages. I have had good and bad experiences with both private and dealership shops. To imply dealership mechanics are less competent than a private garage is not true in my experience. I have used dealership shops for oil changes and other repairs for many years. The key is finding one you like and building a re pore with the people who work their. This is the same as finding and using a private garage.

So for those that can get free oil changes, I say take advantage of them. Just check to see if the work was done to your satisfaction. If you choice to change your own oil, that's a personal choice.
