ran the truck tonight
my 60s were around 2.3. I left it in auto and let it go. So your saying have 2nd selected, once I launch let it go through 1st, shift into to second and rev through second then manually shift the rest of the way?
That's exactly it. In fact, I'm not really sure you have to manually shift into the gears above 2nd prime. You may be able to shift into 2nd prime and then immediately bump it up a couple of times and let the computer do the rest of the shifting. I have not had time to test that theory out yet. I do know that you must manually shift into "3rd" (which is really 2nd prime) or it will choose actual 3rd instead of 2nd prime.
Generally speaking, I think that any gear change you can get the computer to do is best, because the computer will run it up to the highest rpm possible before the rev limiter strikes. You're forced to do the 2nd to 2nd prime shift, but if you can arrange it so that this is the only shift you do manually, you'll probably run a little quicker and be more consistent.

I just tried out what you said. It worked exactly how you said and i bet that will net me a quicker et. I also tried to start in 1st and manually shift all the way through and watching the rpms it actually skips 2nd prime and goes to 4th
Yes, when shifting manually and starting in second, there are two second gears. You want to run it this way to get the fastest times.
how much do you think that will knock off his time? I take it the most significant difference from his high 14 and your low 14 is the gears right? 4:10 vs 3:55? That and the extra weight of the 4x4.
I had a friend who went to the track with me last night and I told him about this so we tried it out. I stalled the truck up to 2000rpm and launched(Getting some tire squeel lol) went through 1st and 2nd, then 2nd prime and into 3rd/4th? The truck feels like it stays in the powerband more, and feels like its pulling harder but we were also on a back road at 10:30-11 pm so it could have just seemed faster.
