Has anyone replaced their grill?
You can buy the black honeycomb or the horizontal bar from OEM dealers. I can life with the chrome grille, but I think the chrome inserts look like crap. I have a yellow sport so I am not sure if they even make a yellow grille anymore.

So....
I was going to give you a deal, but looking at my old grill this thing seems to be put
together in a fashion to where either part is integral to the other. On the top, it is actually the inserts that bolt down, and the grille is clipped on to them. On the bottom, the grille clips in, and the inserts are clipped to it. The inserts have hard plastic straps that run between them, so basically there is one solid piece that is the inserts, and another that is the grille. No more making your own inserts with mesh from Home Depot

Mine came painted. They asked for the vin (I don't know why) to get the color match. Maybe the colors change slightly through the production cycle?

For $300 you get a whole new setup. Then someone somewhere will want to change to chrome, so I could sell my old one, which will be vitually new for $150-$200. Becomes a no brainer at that point.
"This grille is not as simple as the 3rd gen. Can you change the inserts without removing the grille?"
No. I had a 2nd gen.,and that was checkers compared to this. There is a black plastic crossmember that is attached (molded to) to the two upper inserts. Four extrusions from the same crossmember are where the upper portion of the grille assembly attaches to the radiator framework. The two upper inserts are attached by six plastic straps (three each, hard molded) to the lower inserts. The lower inserts simply clip to the outer grille cover (the cross), and then two small bimetallic clips which are attached to the lower back corners of the outer grille hold the assembly in place at the bottom. Either one (inserts or the grille) is no good without the other.

Parts people are not what they use to be. Good ones do not need the VIN, the ones who know less need to VIN to make sure they are correct.

I just found the Invoice. I paid $239.16 shipped for the Deep water blue from the dealership that I posted up.
When my truck comes in and I pick it up I will try to get the grill for free or at least a discount on it. So maybe it will be the first day of ownership
For the one looking for a chrome one, I will have one in about 8 weeks.
