Has anyone replaced their grill?
That look is not for me either. Lucky I have a silver truck. The chrome looks pretty good on it. Painted would be a little better.
I'm wanting a body colored grille, but only the shell. I want to keep the chrome grilles (my truck is black). But I had my grille out yesterday to replace one of my HID lights (Don't purchase any kits from ShopXenon.com they don't return calls or answer emails - XenonPros.com is another name they use also. IntenesHID.com is where I got my replacement bulbs - these guys are great and the have better quality items, and they were cheaper then other guys).
...and now back to my grill story - I was looking at how the grilles are installed in the shell and it looks like they are intergraded into the structure of the grille shell, so the only way to have the grilles remain chrome is to paint the grille shell. I talked to my body and paint guy and he told me that they don't have paint anymore that will stick to the plastic chrome. The EPA has removed all the solvents that will allow the paint to adhere to the plastic chrome, so the first rock chip you get can and will cause the paint to peel.
So it looks like a factory gille shell with the black grilles will be the only way to go for me.

They are integrated in a strange way, but you can remove the chrome inserts and put them on the painted cross. I thought it was weird that it takes both pieces as an assembly to get the grill mounted to the truck. The crossmember with the mounting extrusions is a fixed part of the inserts. You can make it work though.
Just called Henson's. It is a great deal! $236 plus 16, or maybe it was 18, for shipping. In case you are wondering about color this one is Inferno Red.
