Sat Radio channels
With the new truck, we are supposed to get 1 year free service. I'm surprised that they haven't sent any info to me yet (not that I'm complaining). Had to go online to download a programming list for example. Just surprised as my dad got a new chevy and XM has bombarded them with mail and phone calls trying to get them to up their subscription. I'm glad to see that hasn't happend to me so far but just curious as to why not even so much as a "here's what we offer, try it out" letter or something along those lines. I can see the service as being very nice for those that travel a lot. But personally, will probably just put the money I would spend on a subscription toward an IPod. (Yes I'm behind the times on that)
definitely get you an ipod, an older one you can leave in the glove compartment. if you have a REN cord, it will charge, turn off and on and you can scroll through playlists/songs on the head unit/wheel controls. I used my primary ipod at first but replaced it with an older ipod that i hadn't used in years. if you have the RER, you may need to turn the ipod off, check out the ipod/RER thread.
1. GM only gives you 3 months, not 12, so they start bombarding you immediately. Just wait until you are 2 - 3 months aways from your free subscription ending and it will be the same.
2. In my Corvette, which had XM, not only was the antenna hidden (I believe in a side view mirror), it cut out 1/3 as much as the truck does. I could go under an overpass without it cutting out. Maybe it had a larger memory? Either way, the truck cutting out anytime I go under a bridge or something is very annoying.

I have the REN, and while I don't have it temporarily cut out when starting the truck, I do have two other issues. Once in a while I will lose audio and it will say it is looking for satellite. The channel information, current song, etc. information remains current on all channels. However, I don't get audio back until I shut the truck off and fire it back up. The second issue is once in a while when I change satellite channels, the channel number will change, the song info will change, but it won't actually play the audio from that channel. I then have to change the channel to something else and change back and normally it will then tune it in.
The sound is less because satellite radio is not in stereo. It's a digital signal.
