I've noticed a significant increase in the last 1,000 miles on my truck in city driving.

I don't do much hwy unless I'm taking a trip somewhere, but my last hwy was 17.7 hand calculated and 18.x readout on the computer. Of course, that was when I was getting 12.5 mpg in all city driving. I'm now getting 13.5 all city driving and I'm driving like I want to...so I've got to think that my hwy mileage will go up as well.

Don't have a trip any time soon, but I'll sure be watching it when it comes around.

Edit: 3.21's, 20's, all hand calculations unless otherwise noted.

I hope you guys aren't relying on the truck computer to calculate mpg? If you want the real answer you need to hand calculate it. My 06 ram hemi was always 1 to 2 mpg less then what the truck computer said.

I have the 09 Ram 4x2, Hemi, 3:21 gears, 18" Magnaflow and K&N drop in. I just got 338 miles out of my last tank using 24.8 gallons (338/24.8=13.6 MPG). I made a trip out to South Padre Island over the weekend and the EVIC registered 18 to 19 MPG. There was alot of traffic, biker fest this weekend, so I keep it between 65 to 75. I have a longer highway trip this week and I am anxious to see if I can break the 20 MPG barrier.

I echo the statement that the computer calculation is off by at least 1 mpg. On only one tank was it within 0.1 of the actual mpg. Every other time it has been at least 1 mpg higher than the actual.

I will edit my first post to state which gears and wheels I have. I will post back from time to time since I track every single tank of gas and keep a running average.

What I don't understand is I had the hemi in my 2006 Ram QC 4X4 20inch wheels with 3.92 gears and got around 20 on the highway. It was rated for 21 I think. So now I have the Hemi in my 2009 Ram CC with 20 inch wheels and 3.92 gears and on the highway I can't get anywhere near that.

I heard its supposed to get better with mileage. I had an 04 Ram with the hemi and when I got it, there was a big sticker hanging off the steering wheel that mileage would significantly improve after 15,000kms......so I assuming that the 09 are the same?
