Just changed my oil too, my previous vehicles for the past 8 years have been v6's. So I only bought 5 quarts of oil, after the change, checked the level and was surprised to see it was low. I checked the owners manual and the Hemi uses 7 quarts, had to add 2 more. My change oil light came on after 2589 miles. Never been a name brand oil guy, but Walmart had the Quakerstate 5 qt jug on sale for $10. I paid $6 for two single qts from autozone (didn't want to drive all the way to Walmart). Tomorrow is pay day, going to go back to Walmart and buy a few for later.

Walmart generally has cheaper oil prices (when you buy the 5QT jugs) than anyone else. It is where I buy my M1, only thing I ever buy in that store.

Will be interested to know what happens to your MPGs.

Funny you should ask, just got back from a long road trip (all highway miles and I changed my oil to day before the trip). Traveled one way 140 miles and only used 6.48 gallons of gas. Averaged 21.6 MPG doing 70 MPH with strong tailwinds. EVIC jumped around between 20.5 and 21.8. Tach was at 1600 RPM with Hemi, 20's and 3:21 gears. On the way back different story, against the strong headwinds, used 8.86 gallons doing 70-75 traveling 140 miles. Only averaged 15.8 MPG, EVIC was showing 13.3 to 16.00. I wonder if a bed cover would have helped with the heavy wind? I have a 09 CC, Hemi, 20's, 3:21 gears, 18" Magnaflow and K&N drop in filter.

If you have the Hemi, you will want the F-106. Here is a link to the valve for the hemi. http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/Se...lts.asp?Cat=70 Here are some pictures of mine installed on my 09. The best part about the one with the nipple is you can hook a hose up to it and drain right into a container or milk jug with no mess if you wanted to. I went with the nipple because I wanted to get the valve away from the skid plate as much as possible. http://s146.photobucket.com/albums/r278/mpd224/fumoto/

Do you have to hold down the relief valve the whole time while it is draining or is there a locking mechanism to hold it in place while draining?

The post reminds me of the first time I had to change the oil in my mom’s car, my dad asked if I could handle it and being the 11 yo smart *** I said no problem.

So he leaves me the tool to remove the filter and said the oil was in the garage, so I drain the oil and put in the new filter then added the oil thinking I was so cool.

Two hours later my dad gets home and calls me out to the garage and asks why there are 12 empty quarts in the big box of oil in the garage. I say " I changed the oil like you asked" he starts laughing saying the car only took 7 quarts I look up with a dumb expression on my face and said oh I just assumed I had to use all the oil in the box.

He never let me here the end of that "time I told ya to change the oil"
