09 TRX 4 Dislikes!!!!
Hello all. I did some playing around today and found out some thing on my TRX4. 1) I HATE the traction control (ESP)!!!!! Takes all the fun out of driving. So from now on I will be turning it off everytime I drive it. I have a really hard time feeling this truck. I miss my 06 so bad! I understand 4x4 u lose some speed, but it seems or feels my 06 ram was sooo much quicker and faster. I've had the 09 for 3 months now so maybe it will grow on me. I read all your post and try all the different things you guys find. Well enough from me I'll see you around!!!

seriously... another esp thread.....
Here's what's wrong with your thread
1)All of the 09 rams have ESP, go ahead and turn it off because it's only for your piece of mind. It can only be turned partially off unless in 4hi and held down or 4lo is auto... Why do you hate traction, have you ever seen a wreck caused by lost traction, do you take every corner fishtailing because if so, you're childish and shouldn't be on the road as a danger to everyone else.. 06 felt faster or is faster?
2)There's too many variables to compare the two. Your 06 was not faster, the 09 is smoother. Your TRX4 has 3.93's and the hemi with a crewcab, your stock 06 unless with a hemi rcsb 2wd would not outrun it

If you want to get rid of the traction control, you can disconnect the front wheel speed sensors. 3 lights will come on in the dashboard, and your cruise control will basically cease to function. It only seems to work within a very narrow speed range, and not reliably at that, when the sensors are disconnected.
I personally don't give a rat's *** about traction control. I can see SOME use for ABS, but to me, traction control will mostly help people who shouldn't be driving anyway. Same with the way the starter works-if you're too dumb to work the key when starting the vehicle, get a bicycle.

I agree, the ESP is a stupid pain in the rear end. It reacts way too slowly when traction is lost, and each and every time it deploys I have either started to correct the situation myself anyway, or would have preferred not to even try to correct the situation in the first place. Even the ABS is a pain when driving in offroad situations. I have had a few instances where I have had three tires on snow, but one tire on a good traction surface such as dirt. Because the three tires on snow are skidding the ABS dramatically decreases braking power to all wheels, including the one on a good traction surface. There have been times when the truck just would not slow down because the ABS is preventing it, and I have almost gotten into a dangerous situation because of it. Without ABS taking away the braking power of the tire with traction I would have been fine. The idiot proof devices may work well for idiots, but for people that have been offroad driving for years without them, they are a definite hinderence. I prefer my Jeep without ABS, but with a Detroit locker in each differential, over the EPS and ABS of this Ram truck any day of the week. It is much more predictable and much safer on difficult terrain.

you use too many exclamation marks, i read your text as if you're yelling it. You're spelling is top notch as well
i too find all the idiot-proof systems frustrating and annoying because i don't need any of them. My theory is that i would rather have them on there for all the people that aren't such great drivers, benefits me in the end.

I love how everyone assumes they are better drivers than everyone else and they alone don't need ESP and TCS (Its funny cuz i do it too)To all those crappy drivers that made Dodge think we can't drive, DARN YOU!

it is too bad that there are idiot gimicks on the truck. definately cause me to almost crash cause a vehicle doesnt behave like a truck should or when you do slide outta control a good driver can give it gas and use the throttle to straighten out. ESP kills your power and than the control your used to having is gone. Damn idiot drivers wrecked it for the rest of us
I spun my explorer on black ice, I would have loved the ESP then. I agree, most of the time, it's a pain the the ars. But, when you need it, it's nice to have. The wife's durango has it and it helped keep her on the road several times. just my two cents.
