I would go with Royal Purple. I used it in my diesel truck, my 4 wheeler, and used to use it in my Harley when I had it. I love the stuff and would swear by it. RP is what I will run in my 09. I have used Mobil 1 in the past and I did not like it. I ran it in my diesel twice and did not have good reports from Blackstone when I sent a sample in to get tested. I have also found that if there is going to be a leak, Mobil 1 will find it. I know Mobil 1 has a large following, but I do not care for the stuff. If I wasn't going to run RP, I would run either Pennzoil Platinum synthetic or Valvoline Synthetic before I would Mobil 1. That is just my 2 cents tho. I posted this in another thread and would highly suggest installing a Fumoto Valve when you change the oil. It is a whole lot nicer to just get under the truck and turn the lever to drain the oil rather than pulling the plug and possibly getting oil on you. If you get the one with the nipple, you can put a piece of hose on the nipple and drain right into a container like a milk jug. Here is the link. http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/Se...lts.asp?Cat=70

The Hemi is not under much stress at all. The RPMs that it turns with a 7 quart pan is IMO very easy on the oil. If you want to run a synthetic, just follow Sarguys advice and buy any of the synthetics that are on sale. Changing brands frequently is a good way of keeping the engine clean. Many of the oils have slightly different detergent packages and rotating them may be better than using one exclusively. The best oil for the money is Motorcraft's Synthetic blend.

I have been wondering about this same question. Granted, there's only a tad bit over 200 miles on the truck now. What oil do the dealerships usually use??

I say neither. Why spend the extra $$ on pure synthetic ? Do you need it ?

Dealer uses Quaker State. Got 230,000 miles from the crown vic running this oil. If you change it on schedule ( heck my darm oil change indicator came on at around 3k miles on the Ram anyway) I would not waste the $$ on synthetic. Use the $$ on mod's !
