Default Exhaust Pricing.

Just got a quote from a local muffler shop to put one Delta 40 Flowmaster muffler on my 09 Sport, replacing the factory muffler and adding the neccessary piping. The quote was $195.00 for parts and labor. I was a little shocked at first. Does this sound like a reasonable price?

Thanks guys!!

I am up in Canada. I paid $139 CND with taxes for the muffler, and then another $200 with taxes to install it, including some new pipe that they had to custom bend. I think thats on the high side.

It is not way over the line. Figure about $80-$100 for the parts and an hour of labor. So it is a little high.

It is important to understand what kind of pipe you are getting. I would want SS. Most shops will use aluminumized, which is not as good. This is the biggest reason I am getting a Mufflex, then I know I have a good grade pipe. Plus not one else is working on my truck!

Although, since you are getting a FM muffler it will not matter much since you will see rust on that muffler in about a year. Mark my words, rust will begin to form around the seams. This is why the FM is a little cheaper than a MF.

Yeah I realize that they rust overtime. This will be the 5th car/truck I've had with flowmasters on it. I just like the tone of flowmaster much more that I do the magnaflows. And yes, the shop will be using stainless steel. They recently did a full custom exhaust on my big block 1967 Mustang fastback and did a top quality job. I just thought $195 was a little on the high side for what I was wanting to do to the ram.

Thanks!

i paid $186 out the door for my original 40 si/do so that doesnt sound too bad to me. they had to cut the passenger side tip and move it back so it would sit in the stock location.

Sounds about right. I happened to get my 40 series and left the resonator for $115 out the door. Gotta love South Carolina!

I think I paid $150 for my Magnaflow on my '07 to go from single to dual exhaust. So your quote might be a little high.

Btw, I've also heard issues with the Flowmaster not sounding right when the Hemi drops down to 4 cylinders, but it only seems to happen on 1 out of 10 or 20 trucks. Not sure yet what causes it to happen.

I only paid $98.00 for an 18" Magnaflow (muffler+installation+extra pipe) came out to 105.84 with tax. The shop only took 30 to 45 minutes for the swap and it came out great. The muscle truck sound is simply awesome.

I had to pay my own cousin 298 for stainless pipes and a flowmaster 44, because he had to re route the pipes.
