Default Bedliner & Tonneau - best choice?

New to the forum here, and indeed to owning a truck.

I recently bought an 09 Crew Cab, and would be grateful for the collective wisdom here. I bought the truck with a particular use in mind (other than sitting in traffic on I-75), which is boating. We have a boat that lives in a dock 10 miles away, and we'll be using the truck to cart all the paraphernalia down to the dock - towable tube, gas cans, spare battery, coolers etc.

The truck will have occasional use hauling plywood etc back from HD, and the odd outsize shopping trip. Two or three times a year we'll be doing 500-600 mile trips, with luggage in the bed.

We live in Georgia, where the weather doesnt get seriously cold, but it is certainly hot and humid in the summer. When it rains however, it's not uncommon to get 3 inches in a day.

So with these requirements, what my best choice for bedliner & tonneau? I'd like to keep the outlay under a grand for both, but in the context of a $32k truck, a couple hundred extra could be found, although that might make the purchases a couple months apart. In that case, what do I buy first? The liner, I think...

So far my thoughts are that a drop-in liner (original Mopar) is going to have issues with crap & moisture trapped between the liner & the body. But then if you can't see it, is that really a problem? It's certainly going to be cheaper than spray-in, I think.

Carpet-like rugs I think are out because the tube coming back from the lake will be very wet.

So it's looking like spray in may be the best choice. If so, do I do Rhino or Line-x? Body color or black? (Truck is an Austin Tan Laramie). Would body color show the dirt like black? Is the colored stuff much more expensive?

For the tonneau, I'm thinking a folding plastic one (like the Bak G2), but they're a little pricey. Are they worth the extra vs a rollup?

Sorry for the long post, but the choices made here will have a profound effect. Not least, deliberately scuffing up my beautiful truck to spray some dirty black stuff in permanently!

Thanks in advance guys.

I had Line X sprayed in for $650 and a Extang Revolution Tonneau roll up cover for $415. That is only $65 over the $1000 concern. I think both are awesome.

It poured down rain the other day. I drove over 100 miles in the rain then it sat at work the rest of the day, in the rain. I only had a little water around the tailgate. I should have buy the rubber seal for the tailgate that is real inexpensive.

i have the line-x bed liner and the mopar tri folding tonnue cover. great products!

as for the rest of your choices (ex. color of line-x) that can only be made by you. your the one that has to drive it and live with it.

with a line-x liner you know it is not going anywhere. its going to be the only thing holding your box together 50 years from now!

and the mopar tri fold hard cover is great for so many different situations. have luggage to haul? close and lock the cover and go! need to haul some lumber, open it up and throw it in! want to cover up the coolers and have the tube sticking out the back well then fold the cover only half way. so versatile. and if you need to take it right off... it only takes mins to undo the bolts holding it down.

I just got the call from my dealership yesterday that my Mopar Tri-fold cover is in. My truck has the Ramboxes and the cover uses the existing utility rails for mounting. Hope it works the way I hope it's going to.

Regards,
Matt

Hey Matt - how much (list price and paid price) was the tri-fold cover? I assume it is a hard cover - do you have an item number? I also have the rambox on my 09 crew and I'm looking for a hard cover. Dealer told me that the Mopar application folds into 4 sections for the rambox. Thanks

After I saw the rhino bedliner material stop penetration of fragments from a IED, and the concusion forces when wrapped around an explosive,

I haft to say a rhino spray in bedliner and Ive seen some chemicals fade the body color spray ins so im going to stick with black.

As for a bedliner Im still looking too along with 20 others on here.......
