As a former Mercedes driver, I've noticed some DB parts/features in the RAM.

Examples:

The keys, almost a clone of my old Merc keys

The radio - v similar

The EVIC (on a Laramie) - almost the same (inc nav turns, same symbols) as a Merc

Illuminated center console from above - same as Merc

Illuminated window lift switches - wife had an older Dodge that didnt have this, my previous Pacifica neither

Not to mention coil springs and silent interior - it really is Mercedes-Benz like inside.

Anyone else?

Yeah I never owned a Benz either. This is prolly the closest I'll get...lol! I don't buy foreign cars. Although, I guess Dodge will be soon enough.

 

Is that what that little green light in the overhead console near the window switch is supposed to do, light up the console below?

 

I agree. My sister has a 2009 C350. And it has many little features and touches that remind me of her car.

I have the Laramie and the luxury touches are nice. The leather wrapped dash is also similar, along with some of the stitching.

 

Was just thinking the same thing the other day. I don't have any interaction with a Mercedes, but the jump up in quality, especially in the interior, made me think that some of these refinements probably trickled down from Daimler.

 

Yep In fact most off the developement was made with a mix US and German crew. Lot of German supplier also, most of the HVN reduction was manage by the german also. This is my first Dodge, my first pick up also, comming from europe I was there use to the german car there. I bought mostly US, corvette c6 z06, and a new Ram laramie crew cab 4X4 to replace my previous H2... AND I Really like it!

 

I'm note sure if Mercedes does the 3-blink when tapping the turn-signal lever or not, but I noticed it immediately as German since BMW does this.

 

Wow, sounds like you guys are finally waking up... The truck's interior quality is by no means anywhere near the quality of the MB, BMW or even VW. The features still are way behind those found in those cars. The evic of the RAM for example has only a fraction of information and settings. The interior lighting is haphazard, the A/C controls are poor, switches are cheap and quality of seats is not anywhere near quality of the German cars. But then again, you get what you pay for. Dont get me wrong, I like my truck but it is not anywhere near the quality and doesnt have half the features of the cars mentioned. I have a 3yr old X5 also and as far as handling, builtquality and features, the Ram doesnt even come close.

My truck is a truck and will always be a truck

 

I'm not sure what the point is for people to have a truck with all these fancy features. Chances are if you have a laramie with all the extras, you're probably not pulling anything because you're too affraid to scratch it. When I think of a truck, I don't think of leather seats, or a center console shifter or comparison to european luxury cars...lol! These are trucks that are used to pull, haul, push and play in. If you want Mercedes-Benz features in your truck, I think you should probably be driving a Mercedes-Benz, not a truck. Just my opinion.
