Magnaflow-->Flowmaster
So i have the Magnaflow 18" and its not loud enough. I have been told to wait and let it break in but its been over 4k miles and still sucks. You cant even hear it with the windows down and the music to only around 15.
I have been thinking about switching to a Flowmaster 40 series. Is this going to make a big difference? I got a quote for 180 installed
I really want to do True duals all the way out but the shop quoted around 400 and that only included to the rear axle where the stock pipes turn into a 2-1/4 inch pipe. So with all the work in 3in pipe and 2 flowmaster 40 series im looking at about 500 or more. Is that a fair price or should i find another shop??

If I remember from previous posts you still have the rear resonator/mufflers, right? I would remove those or go with the 14" magnaflow. I prefer the sound of the magnaflow, and as a side note, there aren't any baffles to come loose like the flowmaster.
Just my .02

Yeah i have the resonators in but the shop (muffler man) told me that they are so small that they arent going to really make any difference.
And that guy also told me that the Flowmasters dont have any baffles, they are almost hollow.
rickmeseke do you have a sound clip??

They have baffles. They are metal diverters that are spot welded and known to come loose. The resonators will make it louder, but it sounds like you want reeeediculous loud!
Here is a cut-away of the internals of both the flowmaster and magnaflow. Magnaflow uses baffleing-insallation.

You also have to remember that the exhaust tubing is thicker on the new one's so you lose alot of upfront noise, so yeah the noise is behind you. Get a cold air intake to make noise come from the front. I put a 22" (i think that's what it was. . .) overall on my truck didn't that much louder, after a while it got some noise. Let someone drive it down the road while you listen.
"Just to the stop sign and back!" That's all I would want. I'd take out the rear resonators. Mine is coming out next week.
