It gets replaced tomorrow afternoon so I will probably let you all know first thing on Monday if the noise is still there or if it took care of the problem!

Yup at first I thought it was just the Whine of the HEMI (first one I've owned) so I thought I would have it checked...I can here it pretty good from outside the truck, and yes it only seems to be after it is warmed up.

like I said earlier it gets replaced this evening under warranty(of Course) and I will let you know if it solved the noise or not.

If anyone has specific questions you can always PM me!

OK Now I get word that they could not order the water pump without doing further testing!!!!!!! They claim it could be "the springs in the rocker cover" (WTH)!!
And on top of that (and many thanks to everyone on here because I would have had no clue to even ask!) There are several Rapid Response transmittals(RRT) outstanding on it that should have been taken care of in previous oil change visits!
Needless to say I am not very happy with the service dept. at the Dealer I bought the truck from! I am about 45 minute away from the dealer and was trying to use them for the work, there are closer Dodge dealers to me and I made that clear to them on the phone!

So I guess stay tuned for further announcements!

I think you said that you could hear it from the wheel well?? My 2000 was making a noise that sounded EXACTLY like cricket. I crawled underneath and started wiggling stuff around and isolated the noise. It was in the transmission linkage. I sprayed it with PB blaster and it went away. Might be worth a shot.

It reverberated through the steering column, so before I found it I replaced:
steering column bushing
steering shaft
steering gear
all of the front end bushings
steering pump
shocks

I know how annoying a noise can be. A water pump bushing sounds more like a high pitched whine than a cricket.

So I brought it in on Friday and they used a stethescope to listen to things and they claim it is coming from the valve spring dampener??? According to Chrysler this is a "normal" noise and there is no fix for it. Apperently there has been lots of shops replacing water pumps and it is not fixing the problem. They told me the noise is actually coming from underneath the water pump.

I guess we will see, if it gets worth I will bring it back and try again!

The valve spring dampener? There are 16 valve springs. Did they tell you which one lol?

took mine in on thursday nite. made the guy in the service dept agree that there was infact a sound coming from the vehicle.

took the ram in for the fix this morning 7am, its almost 1pm here now, and i haven't heard a thing from the dealer.

when i was in service on thursday, he thought it was a pully squeaking, and that the sound i was hearing on the underside was just the squeak echoing off the pavement.

i'll keep you posted this time......

EDIT:

The Verdict: Belts and pullys operating as normal. Ram was matched with 3 other like models which all displayed the same sound after being ran 5-10 minutes.
