I know for sure my truck went past 105 but not by very much. I was traveling on some lonely, back road highways this past weekend (Saw more rattle snakes than cars on the road, seriously!) Decided to see how fast my Ram could go and hit a hard brick wall between 105 and 110. I'm guessing 106-8ish it was more than half way between 105 and 110. The governor pushed back hard and thats all she wrote. The truck handles awesome at speed and I can't wait for a good programmer to come out. I have the 3:21 gears and I bet this truck can go past MPH easy.

I don't know about 140. The resistance is almost exponential with such a large boxy vehicle when you're in the 100s. (MPG also drops exponentially).

And those of y'all needing to drive 100+ mph should be driving something other than a Dodge Ram truck. There are good reasons for the governor being set at 105 other than the tires' limit.

I'm glad you have a lot of experience reading an odometer, but you might want to take a look at the speedometer to see how fast you're going.

"The truck handles awesome at speed" is a very relative statement. Once you've driven a car that's meant to go that fast, driving a truck that fast just feels dangerous. Imagine having to swerve for any reason at 105 in that truck.... it's not going to end well.

If you're on a deserted road then I don't care what y'all do. You can drive as fast as you want. But, if you're on a highway and you're passing cars then there is no valid reason to go 105+ mph. You don't need to be anywhere that bad and it only takes one other person's mistake to end your life and their's. When I see people driving that fast I make a quick phone call and pretty soon they're on the side of the road with some flashing lights behind them.....

I hope you have plenty of minutes on your cell phone plan, because every time I have to drive to the Austin area, it seams like every one is really hauling ***, especially between San Antonio and Austin on IH-35. I'm doing 85 MPH and other drivers pass me like nothing. Same deal on I-10 between San Antonio and El Paso legal speed limit is 80 MPH but everyone is doing 90MPH+. Like you said there is a time a place to put the pedal to the metal, just don't be so melodramatic. Texas is a big place and some of us like to get to where we are going in good time.

I did the drive from Round Rock to San Antonio 5 days a week for just over 1 year. I'm very familiar with that stretch of IH35 and while there may be a lot of people doing 85, there are not that many people doing 100+ and that stretch of highway is well patrolled.

I did see a guy once pass me when I was going 85 and he seemed to be doing 105. He was in a Dodge Ram as well. On top of flying down a non-empty highway at a ridiculous speed he was riding people's bumpers and passed someone on the shoulder. A quick phone call had him on the side of the highway within 5 minutes. I'm not saying I'd call if someone was just passing someone, but driving faster than is safe and endangering others is not acceptable.

And my cell phone has unlimited minutes.

I repect your opinion and agree that reckless driving is unaccepable on the road. I have had to report several reckless drivers myself, pisses me off especially when I have my family with me. But as far as driving fast is concerned, I'm a lead foot for life.

A phone call doesnt get anyone pulled over if they dont get caught on radar speeding or do it in front of the officer that responds to that area.

If some one is wildly switching lanes then yes this is reckless driving if somone is going 120 past you in a straight line theres no reason to call the police unless your a communist.

In most states 30 mph over the posted speed limit IS reckless driving.

?

This has been debated endlessly but Ill tell you one thing if you know your vehicle, you know how to handle it, and you use common sense their is nothing wrong with breaking the speed limit even if its considered reckless driving.

No one really thinks about things anymore they do what there told and then when someone talks about not being a mindless sheep you have people downing them cause they didnt follow the rules mindlessly.
