Default Bed Rail Caps not cut out

Anyone else figure out a way to cut out the from blanks on your bed rail caps?

What a pain in the neck...why wouldn't they trim out the blanks for us?

They do not cut them out because very few use them. Most do not want the holes in their trucks.

Dremmel would make it really easy.

I need to do it also, the rear ones just have that small hole, which I dont think are large enough to put anything in. I'm just going to follow the seam with a carpenders knife, but I'm not going to do it until my side rails come in. Are you mouning something in there?

i just drilled a few holes big enough to fit a knife in and than just cut out till i made it to the stake pocket edge. turned out good and straight cuts. i put rails on so any minor imperfections were hidden

I have a set of side rails coming in also and I'm going to have to cut mine as the side rails suppposed to some how be attached to the bed pockets. I bought aftermarket ones as the dealer told me you have to drill the bed for factory ones. Heres mine.......

Well, if Dodge thought that people did not want holes in their truck, why open the other two???

Here's the ones I'm getting, locker rails in black powder coat, yours look like they attach like these ones do. There is a big rubber grommit that expands as you tighten the bolt. Don't sound strong but these ones supposedly can hold up to 1,000 lbs. of weight each.

I guess I didn't have caps on my '05 and I used the front holes for anchors while doing various things. I put in a set of the retractable time down hooks. Didn't come out bad but don't cut along the lines. (they didn't line up)

I drilled a couple big holes in the middle and you'll laugh but I used a blow torch and chisel to go along the edges.

Wasn't terrible since we all like to play with fire!! PS...I love that MAP gas stuff.

Default Dremel Works great

The front stake pocket marks do not line up with the holes on my 2016 sport 6.4 bed.
Best place the bed rails and mark their location with tape. Then drill a hole and look around.
I ended up cutting the hole too big and exposed some metal.
