I replaced mine with a short cell phone looking antenna. No difference in reception around town but heading to the ranch I loose the San Antonio stations quicker, especially AM. Yes I listen to AM talk radio! So shoot me, I'm old. Jeff.

Is there room underneath for a good old fashion electric antenna? I hate that I hit low hanging branches in my neighborhood with mine.

The dealer did tighten it, I specifically remember checking it some time agon and it was at least finger tight. But it came loose.

Thanks for the heads up. I double checked mine and it's tight... and yes, I still listen to FM in the morning on the way to work. I had a shorty type antenna once before on a car and I noticed the same - that it loses reception sooner when driving out of town. Around town it was the same. It doesn't really bug me much though. Sure, it wiggles a bit and sure it occasionally hits a branch, but it's not gonna break or anything.
