Default Underbody Protection

When you bought your truck, did the dealer inform you that underbody protection spray (I'm not sure of it's exact name, but it's black) is not standard and that you have to buy it seperately? Did you or did you not do it? It ran me about $450 at the dealership, I took my truck back a week later to get it done.

I havn't had any underbody coating or rust-proofing done on a new car since the late 80's when cars used to rot out if you didn't do it.

I got a dripless oil spray, thinking maybe was a mistake, will be messy to have to work under there. Half inch think oil LOL> Should keep bolts from freezing up and other stuff.

I always thought "undercoating" was dealer rip off.

I did not get anything.

I was under my truck for the first time yesterday. The frame appears to be painted very well. The rear axle still has issues. I am going to paint the axle and watch the other components.

I had mine done at the Line-X dealer. Same price, around $450.

It was called Valugard. Most likely the same thing you got at the dealer as this is the only one endorsed by the OEM's

Follow the link for some pictures of the undercoating.
