I replaced my chrome grill with a painted one, but was not real happy with the black inserts. I pulled the chrome insert out of the stock grill and swapped them over. What do you think?

 

i think its a good idea... maybe you could put up better pictures...

it would be weird if that was the only touch of chrome on your truck though.. i would add just a few subtle touches... maybe get chrome door handles...

 

I like it. Don't think I need to do it to mine since my truck is bright silver. Wouldn't notice it enough for me.

 

I think it would look better with the black inserts, so then you could send me your chrome inserts for my chrome grill on silver truck.

 

I like it but would like to see a picture of the truck on a slight angle. Right now I can see past the grill to easily to the radiator/cooler.

 

Not bad, but I think with your color truck the black inserts might be better.

 

I will try and post a better picture. Today its raining out so I tried to get one in the garage - not such a great idea. I thought the black insert would look better then it did on a blue truck. I had it that way for about 3 weeks and today decided to switch it to chrome. IMO I like this much better. Thanks for the comments.

 

That's what I want to do to mine. I want the painted grille shell, but want to keep the chrome grilles.

I've had the shell out and looked at the grilles and they looked like they were integrated into the structure of the shell. How did you get yours out?

 

I like the chrome inserts myself, though I thing a billet insert would look better then the mesh.

 

Getting the two pieces apart takes a little patience, and a few flat blade screwdrivers. The insert is one solid piece that is held in with lots of clips. You have to carefully work each clip free with a screwdriver working from bottom to top. The insert will want to clip itself back in, so use other screw drivers to keep the two apart as you work your way towards the top. Going back together is a 2 second "snap"
