Default Tar!!!

The road that I drive to work has just been tarred and chipped. It is the only road to work so there is no other route. I just washed my truck and it is covered with specks of tar that I cannot get off. I am taking suggestions for the best method.

Kerosene or duPont makes some sort of bug and tar remover for cars, but be prepared to scrape the little specks off with your fingernails.

Bug and tar remover from a auto parts store or motorcycle store. Fingernails, as mentioned, are the best along with a cleaner. Put the cleaner on a rag and spot clean.

I used Turtle Wax bug & tar remover from Autozone on my mom's Stratus. It took the tar right off. I had some kind of blue gel (don't remember the brand name) that wouldn't take it off.

Mud Flaps and air deflector will be on order indeed. Thanks for all of the suggestions I think I will go with the Turtle Wax stuff. It looks like I have a long day ahead of me on Tuesday. Which is when I will wash "Jenny" again and then take the tar off, then wash her again then wax her. This is all because I do not have the cashola for the mud flaps or air deflector yet and I am driving to the outer banks next week and I am hoping that the bugs do not stick as much on a fresh coat of wax.

Cigarette/cigar lighter fluid. (Zippo type fluid). Takes it right off. Make sure you clean the area afterwards. It's strong stuff. My wife uses it as a glue remover. Thats how I learned about it.

Ok, now I have a new questions. If I were to clay bar my truck and then wax it would the clay bar take the tar off just as easy at the tar remover. And is it advisable to clay bar my brand new truck.

Clay bar probably won't take it off. My advice try some wd-40 then wipe that off w/ rubbing alcohol, wash the truck, clay bar, then wax. Nothing wrong w/ clay barring a new truck it's probably picked up plenty of dirt already.

I wouldn't use a clay bar on the tar. I'm sure it has little pieces of sand or grit in it. In doing so you'd just be scratching the **** out of your paint. I'd remove the tar then clay bar the area.
