New RRT just out
I have line-X and it goes to the trim piece but the trim piece always catches my foot.
My tailgate piece came off within 2 weeks. Snapped it back on and it came off again. Eventually some of the plastic snaps broke. One day I looked and it was completely gone, blew off some where.
Got a new one but after I had Line-X installed another tab broke. Now it flaps away in the wind. I need to bring it in.
Poor design, the third gen was bolted in and solid. not sure how they thought snaps would work in such a heavy use are like the tailgate lip.

dont worry. the 3m tape will hold it.....
yeah, i would be kinda pissed if i was actually buying any of these rams for a hard use work truck with a tail like that.....
luckily for me its my other truck that gets the abuse..

I do not think mine will blow off, tonneau is on top of it
I will let them do the RRT if it needs done, but will also be careful "sliding" items our of the bed. I would have been anyhow. To damn picky on scratches, even on the plastic.

I put my piece of velcro for the top of the bed rug on the tailgate half on the tailgate, half on the spoiler so I don't expect problems, besides my wife told me when she got the mudlflaps put on they did a bunch of other stuff that was just minor things, I had the paperwork but she claims it's at the accountant but why???
Dealer fixed mine last week with this RRT. Feels more solid now. Still think that they could have designed something better than what they turned out. May the aftermarket will come up with a better design?

In summary, the liner over the upper part of my tailgate was very loose. I caught it with my sleeve; it popped off and even though it looked like I reset it well, the piece blew off in the slipstream on the freeway.
Took it to the dealer. Yes, there's an RRT on this problem, so I quoted it to the parts department and they reordered it gratis.
My solution is to have the dealer fix this plastic piece into with several metal screws and washers. It won't be visable with the tonneau cover down and gate up. Yes it will be exposed to water and potential for rust but the plastic itself provides some protection. And if you look under this piece, you find lots of other perforations inside the tailgate that aren't protected by anything. There is a drain hole in the base of the gate. So a few simple screw holes are a modest risk.
I would NOT use double sided tape. Tape deteriorates and loses adhesion within a few months and piece will still be vulnerable.
