1. I hate to say it, but were the rims made in the US they'd probably cost 3 times as much and have an issue with them. Manufacturing has been moving over to China and other countries for a long time... I hope you're just not realizing this now. (They're willing to work for much lower wages.)

2. The government owns a much larger stake in GM than they do in Chrysler. Last I read the government would only have an 8% stake in the new Chrysler.

3. Ford took a gamble a few years back when they essentially mortgaged the entire company and took out a HUGE loan. It was a big gamble and still is a big gamble. They may not need to take money from the government, but they will still have this loan to repay in 2 - 5 years when GM and Chrysler are bouncing back (potentially with less loans to repay).
