Exclamation Any Ram owners seen this on your Rams!!

Had to do 6,000 mile oil change and first tire rotation. 1st off was not happy with the rims stamped made in china and Chrysler wonder's why they went bankrupt any ways. I noticed on the both lower a-arm's that notches were in the metal from the knuckle's from making hard turns. Most vehicle's I've worked on have had like rubber boots or something to protect the metal. Has any one seen this happen to there Rams yet?

I don't understand why the wheels being cast in China would have been relevant to the bankruptcy. Paying a UAW guy to pour the casting, yes, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

As for the notching, what you say does seem unusual. But then it is a new vehicle in many respects. Not much was carried over from the previous line. As such, why not work with Chrysler to get it fixed? It's a great truck.

Hehe, where have you been at for the last 20 yrs? Just about everything we have has something on it made in China, hehe. Half the stuff in the largest retail store in America is made in China, lol.

What is this thread about again???

My lower control arms have spots in them where another part of the suspension rubbed them. I am not worried about it.

I don't disagree with you that it's sad, but it's a reflection of what you, the consumer wants. You want a vehicle with the features you desire at a price you can afford. That is exactly why the wheels are made in China and the engine in Mexico. The clever bits of the truck (computers, network, radios, transmission control, suspension) are German in origin.

The final assembly is done in the US, either in St Louis or Michigan. Where they manage to get the moldings to not fit properly and bits of foreign material in the paint.

If all the parts were made in the US, and assembled perfectly in the US, by US labor, current buyers would not be able to afford the truck. Chrysler would not be able to afford to assemble them and would go bankrupt. Oh looky....

I am indeed not American. I do however aspire to the values of the US, and will one day take the oath. So, I am American in outlook. It is a free market economy, where consumers are free to spend their dollars where they like. I chose to spend mine on an AMERICAN truck.

This thread is a microcosm of the problems in the US auto industry. Poor quality, over capacity and great new designs. I sincerely hope the quality and capacity issues are fixed in the near term, or the great design will be wasted.

Did anyone hear Fritz Henderson the other day? It was a revelation. GM are focussing on quality. I hope Chrysler does the same.

gm is getting special treatment as far as I can see. both our governments now own the dam company. gave both of them all that money and they still pull the chapter 11 BS but why only in the US and not in Canada? Does that mean Chrysler and GM make money in Canada?
I think Ford has been planning for this day for a long time, all of a sudden they have so many new cars coming out like over night and they did not need a bailout. They think they will take advantage of the shutdowns of gm and chrysler but they still have tons of stock to sell so I don't see it. Only thing is people might have more confidence in Ford.
