Default Another RKE FOB Question - Dead Battery

So lets say I'm out camping and return from my dirt bike ride and the RKE won't unlock my truck because the FOB's battery is dead. So I open the truck with the included mechanical key - will the FOB with it's dead battery start my truck ?

If not, maybe we should be packing spare FOB batteries....or another FOB hidden in the truck.

Yes it will. The battery is just used for RKE. The RFID chip does not work off the battery. (I believe..)

I was wondering too if it is like a proximity card and powers the FOB up for starting but haven't seen much on this FOB, MB specific technology.

One could also remove the fob battery and see if the ignition still functions.

No problems if the fob dies you put a new battery in the fob and it works again I think because I opened mine battery fell out and it still works.
