Default Opinions of the new Ram 1500

Hello everyone, Well after a weekend of yet another repair I have decided to get a new 2009 Ram 1500. I currently have an 02 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.9 and 3.55's. I am looking at getting rid of the 4wd and getting a 2009 QC 2wd 4.7 with the 3.92 gears. I am just looking for opinions on how you all like the new 09's and if anyone is driving this set-up and how they like it? Also does anyone tow with this set-up? I have a 4,000lb boat and trailer and need to make sure it can handle it. Thanks for the input in advance.

Personally, I'd go with the 5.7L, but thats just me!

I have a 1500 with 5.7L and 3.92's. Could not be happier!

Yes, get the Hemi, the gas mileage is about the same and the cost of the upgrade is worth it.

I dont know if its a good deal or not but i bought a crew cab, 4x4, lone star package (5.7L hemi, 20" alloy wheels and a few other bells and whistles) It has the front cloth bucket seats with center console and center shifter (you REALLY want this option), 3.92 rear end with Limited slip, fog lights, Power every thing including the power sliding rear window, Garage door opener, Upgraded instrument panel with evic (or what ever its called) and the a/c power inverter, steering wheel audio controls, cruise control etc. and i paid 28200 plus TTL. (when i bought there were no really good factory rebates so your price could be even lower).
Photos are here www.cngmail.com/truckandaudio.html
Sticker on the truck was $40,644.00 the moral of the story is you might be able to afford the 4x4 and hemi and a few other options that you didnt think you could.

Just a thought, when i first started shopping and saw the sticker prices on some of these trucks i thought you gota be out of your mind.

Sticker right now mean nothing, if you can't get 10 grand off a 40g car you can't deal

I don't like the 09 Ram.. Sunvisors are too close and the Cab feels lower than the 3rd gen, I also find Thiers is more leg room in my 06 reg cab.

The truck has a awsome ride, performance and fit and finish is light years ahead of the 3rd gen Ram, But I don't seem to fit in the truck.

The winshield is bigger in the 3rd gen Ram and the 4rth gen Ram feels more compact in the driver area, just my thoughts...

Man-o-man do I ever love this truck. More power than I'll ever need. 09 Hemi 4X4 Sport is the way to go. Changed out the chrome grill the other day to a color matched one. Only took about 10 minutes to do, and does it ever look nicer.

It is a nice truck. I have owned an 03 and 05. It is light years ahead of them. The 5.7 gets the same mileage as the 4.7 because of MDS and VCT.

Drives like a car, I really like it. If all you tow is 4000lbs and it's not daily, I'd skip the 3.92's and get much better milage with either the 4.7 and 3.55's or 5.7L and 3.21's.

Dealers right now are trying to give the trucks away, there really isn't much difference between 4.7 and 5.7 pricing. If you want to save some bucks then forgo the $900 power seats and the big 20" wheels that the dealers seemed to be so fond of ordering.

Mines a CrewCab 2wd SLT 5.7L and 3.21 gears. Factory class 4 receiver was the only option on it and it's got everything I need for comfort and towing 5700lbs.

I love this truck. I really enjoy driving it and so does the wife. While the Hemi is a great choice, especially for towing, the 4.7 is no longer a slouch. We have the 4.7 and couldn't be happier. I would recommend getting a TRX model simply because we own one. I also think the TRX looks great with the two tone, fender flairs, and A/T tires.
