Proof that there was even a theft. What if the shop drags it out for 6 months. Finally, he takes the shop to court. Can he prove that the wheels were taken while the truck was in the possession of the shop? All the shop has to say is that he drove off with the wheels in the back.

Definitely file a police report.

Shops insurance or his insurance is going to require a police report.

I agree with others. You need to file a police report immediately. What's more alarming is why on earth did the shop not want to file one themselves??? If I owned a shop and a customer's vehicle was broken into and things stolen, I would want the police involved immediately.

Best of luck getting everything worked out. Hopefully it will all turn out well for you.

I would file a police report and let them know that they should contact their insurance co. since mine will be contacting them shortly. Now if you don't make a claim your insurance has no business, u can tell them what happened just incase you have to claim it in case they don't have insurance for that, kinda makes me wonder, if I were them first thing I would do.

Subscribed for pics. And it sounds shady that the shop didn't file a report immediately.

I didn't say don't file a police report. I said it doesn't prove anything. As the above poster said, it's shady that the shop didn't do that as soon as they realized what had happened. Unless they admit to the police that the wheels were stolen at the shop a police report proves nothing.

Here is a few thoughts..

How would you steal a set of rims...???

1. I have the factery wheal lock key all ready, If I own a Ram.
2. Maybe the owner keeps the wheal lock in the glove box, console or near the jack.
3. Look for the quick opportuinty at a auto shop or suspension shop..

Wheal locks do help, but thier not going to stop any one from stealing the rims if they have the specfic key for your locks, or if they by pass the wheal lock.

Bottom line is your stupid and risking a fate worse than death if you mess where you should not be a messing..
