So the damage to my hood was $175 for PDR, and 2.5 hours of labor + paint to repaint. Hmm.... I'm guessing a whole hood paint will be more like 6 hours + paint?

If you really want to save money they have what looks like the same exact scoop on ebay for $189 that mounts with sticky back tape.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-...205|240%3A1318

Actually after looking closer at the hood that Dodge offers the scoop aint functional anyway (wtf?), so what the heck might as well just get the scoop on ebay and have it painted........

https://www.dodgeparts.com/product_i...oducts_id/2993

Or do you need something like this to make the Dodge hood scoop functional?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-...205|240%3A1318

I'd have you to see what that hood like like underneath before I'd go shelling out $800+ for a hood with a fake scoop!!!

.

Well from what I gather on the Dodge site ......

http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-...=4032&pc=38071

It states "Includes sheet metal hood assembly, non-functional integrated scoops, and paintable bezels"

Sounds like your paying over $800 for a hood with fake scoops!!

Or does non-functional mean its just not fed directly to the air intake on the engine (like ram air induction) but still has holes in the hood for letting air in?

No holes. One I saw was solid plastic grated to look like a hole

Yup, and some people pay thousands for huge dumb looking wheels too

For me it wouldn't be worth $800 + paint to switch unless I needed a new hood, but it does look nice.

Hmm.... the SRT8 hood that I saw in person (looks like the one that Hdcowboy linked to) definitely has an opening that allows air into the engine bay. They had one at the body shop to show me. They have not had an '09 hood in physically, but they said it should be similar and also allow cool air into the engine bay. And as far as I know, nobody has created an intake to work with the scoop. If it's honestly solid plastic, which I do not think it is, then I'll tell them to send it back.
