Default Exhaust Question

I have been reading through the exhaust threads and was just wondering which muffler is best or is it just preference. Most people say not to use flowmaster because of power loss is this a fact or is it because they prefer another brand. Thanks for any help

There really isnt any difference, some people say they are having power loss but there is really no way to tell that from the butt.

just get what you think sounds the best.

oh and if you want it to be loud dont get the mufflex 18, i have that and now i want to change it to something louder

i agree. i think that it is mostly personal preference. i have the flowmaster original 40 series with stock pipes and tips. i am going to have the resonators removed in the near future to make it louder but it does sound good now and when the mds kicks in it just get quiet. no ricer sound or popping.

Well for performance I would get a magnaflow and get the stock y-pipe removed. The easiest way to do this is to get a dual inlet muffler and depending on your truck it may be dual or single outlet. Take it to an exhaust shop and have them cut out the factory y-pipe and run 2 pipes into the muffler and 2 or 1 out depending on what you want. This way you get rid of the restrictive factory y-pipe and get a better flowing/sounding muffler as well.

i Spoke to flowmaster eng. He says the n ewer hemi's require the flow 50 hd series.
Not the reg 40. (had on my old truck)
I had the 50 installed, cut the resonators out nice and neat and love it.
CHeck out their website or better yet just call them up.
Im def going to dyno my results when I get the truck suited up to push 500.

Default Changing cylinders

I want to get a new muffler installed and the guy told me that the newer models dont sound as good because they change from 8 to 6 to 4 cylinders depending on how you are driving and how much power you need at the time. I have the stock single exaust. What do yall recomend that i get for the best sound and least power increase?

I recently put an 18" magnaflow (mufflex kit) on my lone star crew cab... I like the sound. It's got the growl when you get on it but it's not enough to annoy the neighbors if I feather the pedal in the mornings.
Took the liberty of posting a vid, so you guys have something to compare to the stock and 14" mufflex vids.
