I wouldn't say a CAT delete is a kiddie mod, although I have seen a few "kiddie" mods on this forum.

jdcovert, do you have any pics of your truck on the forum?

Lets not call them "kiddie mods" when we all know that there are older people that will cut their cats, put on neon lights, etc.

Who cares what someone else does to their truck. If you don't want to read about it, don't open the thread.

With that said, I enjoy reading everything anyway...sometimes it is good for a laugh.

I don't think they are kiddie mods I was just saying because thats what the old folk were calling them.

Old jeep would have a hissy fit if he saw what laidneon was doing to his ram over at dodge talk. :-)

X2, These arguments get pretty entertaining sometimes. Things have gotten pretty dull around here since "you know who" was banned.

I wish we would have given "You know who" his own sub-forum, and that was the only place he could post anything. Whenever anyone needed a good laugh we could have just went in there and read any number of his stupid posts.

Kiddie mod
hey, if you wanna call something that actually provides some sort of performance benefit a kiddie mod be my guest... sounds ignorant and airheaded to me. A mismatched plastic spoiler on a ford escort is a kiddie mod.

Thats exactly what we did. They got me a card when I started driving for emergencys. My mom co-signed for me to get a silverado when I was 17, and my dad co-signed for a business loan so I could start powerwashing. After that they said anything else I want goes into my name. By 18 I was able to get a second business loan to expand, a brand new silverado, and cosign for my girlfriends cobalt all in the same month. Nine months later a bought a 2002 z06, which turned out to be a horrible decision but you live and you learn.

Dyno the truck with the cats, replace with a test pipe and 02 simulators then dyno again. I think you'll find that there is no performance gain from removing a modern convertor. Not to mention it's a federal crime.

Being from the offroad world, this type of "mod" irritates me greatly. We have a hard enough time with the "environmentalists" without having folks posting in public forums about intentionally disabling emmissions systems.

Old jeep - Relax. I didn't ask you to yank your cats off. I guess were just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I'm basing on my opinions on past experience when I've gutted cats before and noticed differences in MPGs. Didn't notice any HP gain that was obvious enough to talk about. I've never been on a dyno, so I have nothing to back up my thoughts. But any time you eliminate cats, spark arrestors, and that sort of treehugger equipment thats one less thing to choke everything out. I don't believe for a second that removing them won't make some sort of difference in power.

And as far as emissions.... Don't worry old jeep. If I decide to modify my cats theres plenty of granola munchers driving Prius's here in Maine that'll make up the difference and keep the ozone layer from caving in.
