Default ESP seems funky...

ive got a QC w/ 5.7 and 20" wheels. anyone with an older sport with the 20s knows they spin pretty easy.
with my new truck having esp it hasnt been an issue. but when its raining, if i stomp on it a little it seems to kick in.
it kinda feels like abs, and kinda pulses from left to right- like the wheels are takeing turns being powered.
if i push the "ESP OFF" button it still does this, but kinda sound like grinding gears... like if you mis-shift w/ a stick.
is all this normal? anyone else irritated by it and just wanna turn it off?!?

It's normal for it to pulse on the brakes if the tires are trying to spin with ESP on. On mine (2wd CC Hemi) if I turn the ESP off I can spin the rear tires without any odd noises.

Yes unfortunately the grinding noise and all that other weird crap is normal. I found that out in ice and snow a few months ago. I even took it to the dealer and they said it was just the ESP.
I even turned the esp completely off by engaging 4wd lock and holding the esp button for 5 seconds, I still got the noise. I'm not convinced that esp is off even when its supposed to be completely off.

Nope, it can't be turned off in 2wd. Hopefully some company will come up with a module to fix that, I've seen products that completely disable esp on other chrysler vehicles
