Default Custom install magnaflow 18".....amazing

Just picked the truck up from the exhaust shop, they put in an 18" magnaflow with stainless pipe. They connected it all to the stock big horn tips and resonators. Needless to say, sounds amazing. Very happy I went with the 18. Drone isn't bad at all, especially if you listen to music at any levels, it kills any drone.

I will try to get some picks and a sound clip up this weekend. And to answer the question, all in all it cost $217.00 and took about an hour. If you don't want muffled, then I'm sure a local shop could do the same thing.

Good choice, that's exactly what I had done. It gets a fair bit louder once broken in but IMO it's the perfect sound. Quiet on the highway and loud when accelerating. I think a CAI will make it even better

Yea, just waiting for that break in period to be done and the smell to go away. I have the airaid CAI on it, and it does help a bit on the sound, but the exhaust pretty much over powers the CAI. Overall, super happy with it.

Did you have them cut out the y-pipe?

The factory y-pipe is restrictive, basically 2 pipes crimped into one bigger one. If you get an exhaust shop to install your muffler get a dual in dual out or dual in single out depending on your taste, and they can cut the factory y-pipe off and just run 2 pipes into the muffler improving exhaust flow. The magnaflows have a y or x built in the mufflers so it is a simple solution.

No i didnt have them cut that out. I didnt want to mess with that at all, i wanted basically what a mufflex system would have done, but welded and professionally installed. Drove around all day with it and very happy with the sound. Havent really noticed a performance or mpg difference yet. (i doubt i will, but the sound alone is worth it)

Glad you like it and it came out cheaper then mufflex too. I think custom jobs are a better option then the catback systems as long as the people doing them have a clue about proper pipe size for the engine.

I just installed my new 14' mufflex and I love it..I was going to go with the 18' but I wanted it a little louder..So I am very happy with my choice and I will be glad when the break in period is done. That smell is horrible..Has anyone taken out the resonators with any of the mufflex exhaust? Just wondering if it makes it any louder...Thanks

Removing the resonators will make it louder. My truck is an 04 v6 which never had any resonators, and I had a 14" magnaflow put on it and it's louder than I like. My advice is keep the resonators and replace your y-pipe w/ a magnaflow y since your already did your muffler.
