Default Front Air Deflector

I just installed a chrome Mopar front air deflector on my Ram. I was surprised that the screws did not tighten completely, but got to a certain point and spun without any further tightening. It seems like its on good, but I was curious if I did something incorrectly or is this common from others who have installed one. Thanks for the help.

The little push tabs that you push into the hood, have little oval bump on it, if you put them on the oval should be going left to right, not up to down. You'll see that they line up in the oval holes on the deflector, this prevents it from spinning.

Not sure if I explained that well enough.... Let me know...

Thanks for the help. I have the push tabs in from left to right lined up with the deflector. They are not spinning themselves. It's that the screw does not completely tighten. It grabs up to certain point and then the screw does not grab on anymore like a stripped screw. The deflector seems to be on tight, but I didn't expect not to be able to tighten completely. I was just curious if this happened to others who installed them. I don't want to screws to back out over time. I don't think they will, but wanted to hear others experiences.

johnnymay15, I had the same problem with mine, I think the plastic holders are cheap and just strip out real easy. Mine has been on my truck now for about 400 miles and it has not came off yet. I was thinking about trying a little bigger screw to see if they would hold any better.

Same here, three of the screws I was able to get tight. The fourth not so much, no issues so far though.

Yeah, I don't think any of the screws tightened up on mine either and so far it's doing well. I have over 9000 miles on the truck and I got the deflector within a couple weeks of buying it.

I find it annoying how hard it is to shut the hood with the deflector on it. Unless you are 6'8"+ tall (I'm 6'1") you can't reach up past the deflector to grab the hood and shut it. I'm afraid of breaking the deflector if I grab it and pull the hood down.

Yeah WVU Fan, I have the same problem, its like the hood goes up to far and makes it very hard not to have to grab onto the sheild. I'm 6'4" and I still have the same problem. Makes me glad I'm not any shorter!!!!
