I've got almost 4500 miles on mine and I have yet to see the message about the oil change. I did change it though at 3000.

If you don't see it by scrolling thru the odometer/trip display you can try what worked on my '07 cummins.

To display the engine hours perform the following:
Place the ignition in RUN, but do not start the
engine. With the odometer value displayed, hold the trip
button down for a period of 6 seconds. The odometer will
change to trip value first, then it will display the engine
hour value. The engine hours will be displayed for a
period of 30 seconds until the ignition is turned off or the
engine is started.

Not sure if it will work on a '09.

Thanks for the suggestion but I couldn't get it to work on my 09 ST 4.7.
I tried several ways using your suggestion but no result.

Thanks again.

mine came on at 2859 miles. I changed it with K&N filter #2010 and Royal Purple 5w20. The only things that will happen when using other oil weights is the MDS won't work properly and you will lose fuel mileage and with the way these trucks are on gas we don't need that to happen. Almost all new vehicles say 5w20 now. I have had 4 new trucks since 04 and all of them have said it. Dakota, F150, 07 Ram, 09 Ram,

Default Oil change message

When I started my 09 Ram this morning. I noticed a new message. I just today turned 2500 miles and right around 100 engine hours. And the message said Contact Dealer, Oil Change Due.
I had already changed the oil at 1000 miles and 49 hours. So it seems to me it just must come on at the trucks first 2500 miles??
I tried clearing it once today like it says in the manual. I thought it went away. But on my next start the message came back. So I tried clearing it again when I got home tonight. I'll check it in the morning to see if it comes back again.

Mine came on at 4500 KMS, right after a 1400 KM trip at about 135km/hr.

Just changed my oil on my 08 Ram TRX4. 9096 miles on it with 314 hours on engine. I know the manual says the change oil message goes off of engine hours. But I thought i pretty funny how my third oil change approx 9000 miles matched close to 300 hours. For the first 10 months I had the truck my daily trip to work was 6 miles roundtrip. I moved two months ago and now my daily round trip is 40 miles. Just wondering what kind of mileage people had on their trucks versus engine hours.
