anyone else have a major difference between the computer and hand calculated? Sometimes its right on other times its over estimated or underestimated by 1-2 mpg. Does anyone know why this is and possibly a fix?
It seems to be a fairly long term average. Even after 50-60 miles of what I'm assuming is about 18 mpg - mine currently says 10.2 MPG because I just got done towing for 600 miles. Unless you reset it at each tank, I wouldn't expect it to match very closely.
When I was resetting mine on every fill up I was 1MPG higher on the puter than the accurate hand. I am waiting until I have several thousands miles on the truck before trying again.
My computer said 18.2 but after the hand calculation it was 16.4 and yes I did reset it at fill-up. I have 4 wheel drive and the 4.7. I added the step rail (40lbs) and the solid tonneau cover (50lbs) and 35lbs of tools, They say for every 100lbs you lose close to a mile per gallon. Originally when I purchased the truck I was getting 17.5 mpg, after adding the above items I know get 16.5 to 16.8 mpg.

I dont think thats true. So after 1700 pounds in the bed, you run out of gas just turning it on. Or if you ride with a truck full of people (500 lbs) you lose 5mpgs?
