I won a steering wheel with all the radoi controls on ebay off a truck with 14k miles the wheel should be here weds ,I got the wheel with shipping for 114.00 , I wanted the controls and the leather wheel , I allready added it as a option so after I install it and going to reconfigure the build of the truck Ill let you guys know if they work or not.

I was going to just add the wirning harness and add the switchs but that harness has been ordered since I got the truck and no time frame for it to come in as of yet.

 

Im doing the same thing with my ST. I took it to an aftermarket shop and they were able to install it for me. I'm getting activated on Tuesday hope everything works out. If it doesn't work I don't know what to do.

 

Next time don't be such a cheap skate, with the prices they are selling and SLT even you can get a very well equipped truck and you don't have to take chances on buying stolen parts and being charged, or parts that were not removed properly, REN radios have to have the fuse removed before undoing the negative battery cable, especially on reinstall....stuff like that. Electronics are easily damaged from surges and different vehicle run on different bus speeds. Not like the old days.

 

Wasnt a cheapskate, bought the truck that I could afford. Dont have any regrets, I'm doing this because I want to.

 

Sounds like an interesting project. You'll have to let us know how much of a pain in the butt it is. While you're in there, see if there's a way to swap the controls, where the left button does volume and the right controls the channels.

I was unable to get wnat I wanted at the time I bought, because I work at a dealership I know I can add the features the truck that is was lacking I like remote start I added and now the leather steering wheel with the radio controls.

 

Installed my steering wheel today and updated the build configuration and it works fine the controls all work so if you ahve a SLT you can add a steering wheel with controls all you need is to have the dealership add it to your build configuration and restore it so it will work!

 

I am glad to hear it all installed and worked good for you. I was ribbing you about being cheap.

Went to the dealership today they said there was no way to update build configurations. How did you do it?
