I have the same issue of feeling underpowered all the time because we normally tow things with my dads 2011 superduty with the diesel and that thing will just putt around all day and never really strain to get things moving. Then I use my truck for something and I have to get used to keeping the rpms up to make sure i'm in the powerband.

 

I'm curious if the rear 9.25" axle is basically the same as the powerwagon's 9.25" front axle.

For the OP or anyone else who wants to know, the rear differential in a 1500 is a Chrysler Corporate (AAM) 9.25" 12-bolt, 31 spline. It is NOT the same axle that is in the front of the 2500 series trucks, Power Wagon or ANY other truck. The front differential in a 2500/3500 Ram is a AAM 9.25" 14 bolt, 33 spline which utilizes a reverse cut ring gear. I'm not going to even go into correcting all the other misinformation in this thread...

Hey man you seem to know your stuff , I know this is an old thread but I just came across it. I've got a 2010 ram 1500 sport 4x4, mine has the 3:92 gears but I'm looking to upgrade for more low end torque. Any advice on what I need to order for the front and rear ?

 

My 09 has cc Rambox with 321. When t hey did the recall on the pinion nut, the replaced the whole insides . I ask the service advisor about changing to 355 and sh ed said she could not for this was a safety recall . I wo Ildefonso like to have the 355, I have 197,000 on the clock . I tow a travel trailer and tow it in 4th or 3rd gear .

mine was a early build with Rambox , Slt with extras. I believe the sport model came with the 355, then 4 wd has the 392. I contacted a large gear and axle Company about changing to 355 . They told if I went with non mopar gears they would whine .
